On February 15, shortly after 5 p.m., emergency crews were dispatched to a single-vehicle crash in the 200 block of Beans Cove Road in Bedford County, Pennsylvania. Rescue 3 responded with 6 personnel.
Upon arrival, Rescue Engine 4 (Baltimore Pike) found a single vehicle had collided with a tree, trapping two people inside. Crews from Rescue Engine 4 and Rescue 3 used hydraulic tools to remove both side walls of the vehicle, successfully freeing both individuals in under 15 minutes.
Both patients were taken by Cumberland Fire Department ambulances to UPMC Cumberland for treatment of their injuries. Assistant Chief 4 (D. Hout) served as the incident commander at the scene.
